Episode VI
Episode 6: Germ Invasion! Nana’s chemotherapy, as expected, destroyed her white blood cells as well as some of the cancer. This put her at risk of infection and other complications. Tim represented this as a "germ-men" invasion. The nazi helmets visualized the evil and potential disaster. Also, the chant of the guards from the (Wizard of Oz) castle of the wicked witch and the expressions on the faces of the germ-men add to the grim mood. Tim’s grasp of the actual events taking place thousands of miles away had improved tremendously.
We can place the creation of this episode in January, 1993, from the coloring technique. Tim received some new colored pencils for Christmas and was learning how to use them. Pressing too hard gave a "grainy" look to the colors.
